“Increasing Teacher Professional Competency towards Realizing Creative Learning, Innovative and Fun in Public High Schools 6 Wajo”

Children's self-confidence must be developed from an early age, because self-confidence is really needed in a child's life as a provision to face every challenge and problem in his life. High self-confidence will make a child a person who has high flexibility, be positive, no doubt in acting and making the right decision for himself, and able to take definite steps in his life.

When he was first assigned as Principal of a State High School 6 Wajo in early February 2023, I see symptoms of a lack of self-confidence among students at the school. This can be seen when an activity is held where students are asked to express opinions, ideas and thoughts, they seem to be having problems communicating, such as difficulty speaking in public, and nervous about conveying his ideas.

An illustration of students' lack of self-confidence, especially in terms of communication, used as a discussion agenda for the Principal and leadership elements (vice principal), then brought to a meeting with the teachers' council. During the meeting, information was obtained that in general teachers were still implementing conventional and monotonous learning, teachers are less motivated to develop various variations in learning, such as the lack of use of various types of learning models, media, as well as creative and innovative learning designs. The teachers' information is then synchronized with the Education Report which shows this data (1) Learning methods (interactive learning practices that are appropriate to learning objectives and student characteristics, achievement 54,64 %; (2) reflection and improvement of learning by teachers (level of reflective activity and improvement of learning practices carried out by teachers 52, 43 %; (3) teacher learning activities aimed at increasing knowledge and teaching skills 50,31 %; (4) implementation of innovative practices (learning innovation based on reflection carried out by achievement teachers 54, 59 %. Based on this data, it shows that the learning carried out by teachers is still far from ideal conditions according to the Education Report Card analysis.

Based on data and information related to the lack of teacher variation in learning as well as Education Report Card data, is a challenge for the entire public high school community 6 Wajo to immediately take concrete steps to optimize learning in the classroom. Due to the development of various variations in learning, not only will it increase students' self-confidence through the process of involvement and activeness in learning, also develop learning that supports students, and motivate students to be creative, innovative and fun.

Therefore, Headmaster, The Deputy Head of School and the Teachers' Council decided to carry out activities to increase teacher professional competence through In House Training (IHT). This activity is expected to facilitate teacher professional development in the form of providing training that is relevant and useful for, and help them improve their skills and knowledge.

Initially, IHT was planned to only take place at school locations. However, the management of State High School 6 Wajo experienced difficulty in presenting presenters who were considered capable of presenting the material needed by teachers, and can provide solutions to various difficulties experienced by teachers in learning. Therefore, IHT activities are carried out at school locations and at BBGP Makassar. Even though the two locations are very far away (276 Km), but the administrator of the State High School 6 Wajo continues to carry out activities under the scheme 2 location, by considering efforts to bring participants closer together (guru) to the speaker's domicile (Makassar), to optimize the achievement of training objectives based on teacher needs.

IHT carried out at the State High School location 6 Wajo took place on the date 14 And 15 June 2023. The material presented includes: : (1) Reflection on learning the new paradigm; (2) Understanding learning outcomes; (3) Composing TP and ATP; (4) Compile teaching modules; (5) Learning Assessment; (6) Designing P5 Modules and Organizing P5; (7) Sharing Good Practices in PMM. The seven materials were presented directly by State High School teachers 6 Wajo. While the number of teachers as participants is 30 people, Priority is given to teachers who have difficulty teaching students in a variety of ways.

After lasting two days at the school location, IHT then continued at BBGP Makassar for three days (22 – 24 June 2023). IHT in Makassar began with the direct opening of the head of the BBGP, Mr. Dr. Arman Agung, M.Pd. Meanwhile, the materials presented include: (1) Strengthening the Implementation of the Independent Curriculum by Drs. Muhammad Tawakkal; (2) Teacher Competency Profile and Model to encourage the acceleration of educational transformation in the independent learning policy by SP facilitators, Pratiwi Ramlan, S. Farm., Apt., M.AP; (3) Learning Design and Class Management that Favors Students by Dr. Answer Mustafa; (4) Principles and Processing of Assessment Results and Casuistic Problem Solving Models in the Implementation of the Independent Curriculum presented by Dr. H. Muhammad Asrar.

The positive value of IHT is the collaboration and knowledge exchange of teachers that takes place in a happy and pleasant atmosphere. They participated in the activity from start to finish with enthusiasm and enthusiasm. This shows that IHT has provided enlightenment and motivated teachers to improve their competence, especially the development of various variations in learning.

Efforts to increase teacher competency through IHT are now starting to show results, among others, teachers who develop various variations in learning are increasing in number. More and more teachers are motivated to use various types of learning models and media. Teachers are increasingly enthusiastic about designing creative and fun learning. This has a very positive effect on increasing students' self-confidence. Student involvement in learning is increasing. Students become increasingly skilled at effective communication, both in class and other discussion forums.
