PROGRAM GEBULITAL
early
The habit of reading is something important for a person's life that must be developed from an early age. High interest in reading and writing creativity will increase a person's knowledge and insight and most importantly, foster students' critical thinking.
In terms of student literacy, most students are still unable to think critically, This is seen from students who are only able to read without understanding the meaning of writing. Students cannot yet express what they have read. As usual literacy in the school yard.
Because it is not only used for ANBK. But students can also use chromebooks for literacy. To address this, I tried to coordinate with the school principal to carry out an activity which I named GEBULITAL, which stands for Digital Literacy Culture Movement. the principal welcomed him happily. Coincidentally, I was sent by the education department to attend the Literacy and Numeracy training held by BBGP North Sumatra on 12-15 April 2023 joined by several delegates from other city districts.
The aim of the Gebulital program is :
- Increase students' reading interest and writing creativity
- Growing the profile of independent Pancasila students, critical and creative reasoning.
- Cultivate student leadership.
- Maximizing the function of the library and school media.
- Creating a culture of literacy in schools.
- Utilizing school assets in the form of croombooks and laptops.
Not only that, I share
good practice for friends from the same school by holding a workshop entitled "Increasing Literacy and Numeracy Competency in the Independent Curriculum for Elementary School Teachers in State Elementary Schools 028289 North Binjai. We invited Mrs. Olivia Sembiring and Mr. Putra Surbakti to open our workshop.
As usual our literacy schedule is Wednesday and Thursday, Students sit in the school yard with blue tarpaulins. My fellow teachers have prepared chromebooks and opened the literacy link. Chromebooks are school assets that we need to use with students too. So it's not just during ANBK, but can be used to become digitally literate.
They sat in a class circle and one of their friends told a story from the link that had been opened earlier. So there are no children playing around. They focus on listening to the stories they hear. The link contains stories according to student level. Sources obtained can be from PMM such as:

Students read with good intonation ( read aloud ) Then the teacher makes trigger questions about the story that has been read earlier. Nah, This is where the teacher can assess, whether the student can answer, critically or not. With the GEBILITAL Program, Students become enthusiastic about reading and listening and expressing again the reading they have heard critically. The school principal carries out monitoring, evaluation and reflection to find out what program results and impacts have been good and not so good so that they can be improved in the future so that students can think critically/critical thinking.
I feel happy and grateful because I can carry out this good practice smoothly with the help of the cooperation of the school principal and my fellow teachers.
