Give me, S.Pd – Independence – Utilization of Media in creating "ASRI" schools
State Middle School 11 SUPPORTING STAPS, is a small school in the upper reaches of Melawi. Students come from the school environment with a high work culture taught by their parents. The school yard contains green grass and available land for planting flowers, All of this is very supportive of creating a beautiful school (Aman, Healthy Neat and Beautiful). The number of students is not too large, and minimalist buildings, all of this has the potential to be easily managed and developed into a beautiful school. The location of schools close to residential areas has added value for mutual monitoring of schools to ensure security.
The challenges I face include:, Students have not yet formed a culture of throwing rubbish in its proper place, they used to throw rubbish under the classroom window, and don't care about the rubbish scattered around the school environment. Besides that, the culture of caring for and planting flowers has not yet developed, as well as hygiene, security, and the beauty of the school. The habit of calling parents' names, Making other friends uncomfortable is also a challenge in creating a comfortable school, There are students who like to disturb other friends by hiding their bags, ballpoint pen or book, are things that make the school environment unsafe.
What I do to overcome the challenges above is to invite students, to create ASRI schools (AMAN, HEALTHY, NEAT and BEAUTIFUL). Make posters calling for ASRI schools and anti-bullying posters. Socialize it to students, and stick posters on walls that students often pass by, socialize on social media such as student WhatsApp groups, school instagram and whatshap story as well as facebook.
I have been running this program for three years, and the expected changes are starting to appear. Students are accustomed to throwing rubbish in their place, care about the school garden, plant flowers and other plants and care for them. Growing culture of concern for security, cleanliness, beauty and health in the school environment. Formation of the character of respecting friends, do not do bullying both verbal and non-verbal. So as to create a "ASRI" school environment ( Aman, Healthy, Neat and Beautiful).
