(Early, CHALLENGE, ACTIONS AND LESSONS)

Early

Thursday, 26 January 2023 This was the beginning of my transition from teacher to head of State Elementary School UPT 16 Laikang. This is the beginning of carrying out new duties,The first thing I did was look for data related to the school, then held a meeting with the teacher council. From the results of the meeting, we reached a mutual agreement to build a positive culture. As time went by, my concerns emerged., when I saw that there were still some students who were not paying attention to the school environment, especially the issue of rubbish which was sometimes thrown carelessly even though in some classes there were rubbish bins available. To create a positive culture at school, of course all residents can initiate this without being bound by written rules.. However, this will be easy to implement if it is supported by the school by making it a rule or habit with supporting capacity such as facilities, banner reminders and other supporting infrastructure. The Principal is the person responsible, teachers succeed in a positive culture that is agreed upon in accordance with the school environment and students become implementers of this culture. However, this can also be applied to a positive work culture for teachers.

Responding to the issue of environmental concern by launching a program 3R waste management (Reducate, Rshe, Recycle ) In particular,This program aims to foster an environmentally caring character that is in accordance with the character of the Pancasila student profile, namely independence ,responsible, creative and mutual cooperation. With hope :

  1. Increase awareness of waste in
  2. Providing insight or knowledge about waste management into useful items
  3. Foster creativity by maximizing school assets, This program is encouraged to train and familiarize students with caring about the problem of waste in the environment with the hope that they will get used to maintaining cleanliness anywhere so that it becomes a positive culture in their lives. Before implementing this program, students were given the opportunity to observe the environment around the school, carry out discussion activities to generate ideas from students and options for action to be taken regarding the problem of how to process waste, give them the opportunity to publish their creative results.

CHALLENGE

An attitude of caring for the environment must be instilled through education in schools. This habit can be done by inviting students to implement 3R-based waste management (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). Thus, application of the 3R concept (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) can foster environmentally caring character. Students who previously just threw away random rubbish have become more sensitive to their environment and utilize rubbish into useful items. However, this planning creates a dilemma because the activity will be in vain if it is not implemented by all classes with full commitment and consistency. On the other hand, the canteen limits the amount of glass mineral water or similar that will be sold. A policy like this will certainly reduce canteen sales turnover.. 3R waste management (Reducate, Rshe, Recycle ) It is a method to minimize the problem of garbage in schools and in the surrounding community.

ACTION

Principle 3R , namely the reduce principle, reuse, dan recycle. The first principle of reducing is activities that can reduce and prevent waste generation. The second principle of reuse is the activity of reusing waste that is suitable for use for the same or another function. The third principle of recycling is the activity of processing waste to make new products. The following is an explanation of the 3R principles.

1. Reduce Principle (R1)

Reduce Principle (R1) Reducing or reducing waste is an effort to reduce waste generation in the source environment and is even carried out before the waste is produced, Each source can make efforts to reduce waste by changing consumptive lifestyles, namely changing habits from being wasteful and producing a lot of waste to being frugal and efficient and producing little waste. actions that can be taken :

  • Each student reduces the purchase of products that produce large amounts of waste
  • Get students used to bringing healthy food (gunakan rantang nasi)
  • Bring a water bottle (BBM)

2.Prinsip Reuse (R2)

Prinsip Reuse (R2) Reuse means reusing materials or materials so that they do not become waste (without going through a management process) such as using mineral water bottles into Ecobricks

Actions that can be taken are: :

  • Choose products with recyclable packaging
  • Use refillable products (refill)
  • Reduce the use of single-use materials
  • Plastic bags are used for trash cans
  • Large cans/basins are used for flower pots or trash cans. Refillable thick plastic packaging is used as bags

3.Prinsip Recycle (R3)

Recycle (R3) Recycle means recycling a material that is no longer useful (rubbish) into other materials after going through processing processes such as processing leftover patchwork into blankets, duster, doormats, and so on or process used bottles/plastic into containers for hydroponic plants. Take action in this way :

  • Choose products with packaging that can be recycled, for example used mineral water bottles
  • Glass or plastic bottle for seedling pots, and various kinds of crafts can be done by a. Provide, tools and materials in making containers

-Tool

Cutter,Scissors and punch/nail

-Material

Used mineral water bottles, kain panel,Land,Charcoal husks and plant seeds

b. Work Steps

  1. Cut the mineral water bottle into pieces 2
  2. Make a hole for water absorption and a place where the roots come out in the plant container, then add media. Make a hole for air circulation in the water reserve, then give enough water..
  3. Put the bottle halves together

Learning

3R waste management (reduce, reuse, recycle) cultivating a character who cares about the environment can be done, as follows:

  1. Reduce example, namely the BBM movement (Bring a water bottle) and food chain
  2. Contoh Reuse, namely waste management can be done with
  3. Contoh Recycle, namely processing used mineral water bottles into containers for hydroponic plants

By seeing nature directly, children will know the real beauty of nature and understand what they should take care of or care about. We can also explain, if children don't care about the environment or throw rubbish carelessly, then beautiful nature can be damaged and have a bad impact on humans. Cultivating habits cannot be done instantly, so we have to be patient and continue to apply it to children's daily lives. When they grow up, Children will definitely remember these good habits and protect their environment.

Due to the benefits of this program, it is recommended that the activity plans that have been implemented can be developed for the next students in the following academic year.
