One of the competencies that students must have is good communication skills. However, in general, students are still embarrassed to convey their ideas and concepts in public during the learning process. This results in the learning objectives not being achieved. There are several reasons why students are unable to develop their communication skills in public, including:: 1) Teachers do not use appropriate methods in learning, 2) Students have limited vocabulary, 3) Students feel embarrassed when their friends laugh at them, 4) Siswa merasa takut salah berbicara di depan teman-temannya dan lain-lain. Sehingga tujuan yang ingin dicapai dalam pembelajaran ini adalah siswa mampu mengembangkan kemampuan komunikasi bahasa inggis di depan umum melalui kegiatan ekstrakurikuler EDC. Dalam mencapai tujuan yang ingin dicapai, saya menemukan tantangan yaitu kurangnya minat dan kemandirian siswa untuk mengulang terus menerus bahasa inggris mereka di luar pembelajaran di kelas. Selain itu guru bahasa inggris sering menyuruh mereka menghapal kosakata yang membuat anak makin malas belajar bahasa inggris palagi kalau kosakata yang disuruh hapal banyak sekali. Berdasarkan hal tersebut di atas, saya mengajak siswa untuk melakukan refleksi diri dalam hal peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi bahasa inggris di depan umum. Motivate students not to feel embarrassed about speaking in front of their friends if they come up with an idea even if they make a mistake in communicating. 2) Every new vocabulary acquired is immediately put into practice without having to memorize it first, as students never memorize Indonesian vocabulary and their local language, but they use it fluently.. So that's how English doesn't need to be memorized but practiced. 3) Providing fun learning to students so that they feel comfortable and happy learning. This will really encourage students to be enthusiastic about learning. Students feel they are not afraid to speak in front of their friends because they have independence and freedom of opinion because they are not pressured to be great but how they proceed. 4) Always provide encouragement in the form of concrete evidence or facts or stories of successful people if they master English and convince them that they will also get the same thing or even more if they can communicate English well so that this encourages students to learn without having to be directed continuously). The results of what we have done, Alhamdulillah, are extraordinary and beyond our expectations. Our children are very motivated to develop their English. They are able to communicate in English well, have good listening skills and so on. Our children were able to win several English language events at district level, provincial and even international like champions 1, 2 And 3 in Thailand through AIYC activities . Apart from that, you have English language skills, Some of our children who joined EDC were able to get scholarships to study abroad such as Malaysia, Türkiye and Germany. This has a tremendous impact in building children's motivation to learn English, especially in improving English communication skills.. In fact, several students are currently taking part in student exchange selection in America through the YES program.
