Realizing the School's Vision and Mission
Public High School 1 Lubuk Suhuing continues to improve itself in order to implement an independent curriculum. The implementation of the Merdeka Curricum currently being implemented is free to change, which previously still implemented the Curriculum 2013. With the implementation of the independent curriculum, the school community feels that the vision and mission need to be updated in line with current developments.
The pandemic that hit the world, including Indonesia, has greatly affected the character of society and the nation. We are faced with a difficult situation to live in a social and cultural way which has always been a reflection of the nation's character. Learning that is carried out online or face-to-face means that teachers and students do not interact in real life so that good values are lost.
To harmonize existing conditions and implement the new curriculum, all school members perfect the school's vision and mission. The entire school community agrees that the vision is "Creating Students with Character, Global Insight and Excellence in IMTAQ and Science and Technology". Based on the vision that has been formulated, So the school's mission is described in accordance with the dimensions of the Vision, namely the Character dimension, the Global Insight dimension and the Excellence dimension in IMTAQ and Science and Technology.
The Character Dimension is making Teachers and Education Personnel role models who become inspirational examples for students, cultivate 5S ( Smile, Salam, Sapa, Polite and Polite), and get used to being honest, adil, independent, and responsible in action.
The Global Minded Dimension is cultivating a culture of care and empathy for the surrounding environment, train mutual cooperation in facing common problems. preserving local wisdom as part of the nation's cultural wealth and being able to build National and International Networks.
Meanwhile, the superior dimension in IMTAQ and science and technology is optimizing the application of religious and cultural values, optimize the learning process and guidance towards 21st century learning and the era of educators 4.0, optimize the application of discipline with high credibility and moral integrity, encourage and train the spirit of achievement and the ability to compete in competitions participated in both academic and non-academic and increase the number of student graduates in higher education.
We feel that the first dimension of character must be implemented in schools. Teachers and education personnel set an exemplary example by arriving early to school. Implementation of 5S (smile, sapa, salam, polite and courteous) can be implemented and become a culture because teachers and education staff welcome students at the school gate with a smile, greet and shake hands with every student who enters the school. Teachers can check the completeness of the uniform of each student they greet.
At the beginning of the implementation of 5S at the school gate, there were indeed many obstacles faced, such as students still barging into the school without shaking hands., as well as teachers and employees. After one week has passed and it has been evaluated and presented at the flag ceremony, every student who comes to school has shaken hands with teachers and employees at the school gate.. For teachers and employees, a schedule is made so that all teachers and employees are on duty at least once a week. Students who drive motorized vehicles remove their helmets to greet teachers and employees, Some even stopped to shake hands before parking their vehicles.
Another impact of this 5S activity is that there are no students coming to school who are not wearing full uniforms and there are fewer students coming to school late.. They feel comfortable being greeted with a smile, greeted in a friendly manner and greeted by teachers and employees. They also make it a habit before going to school from home to greet and greet their parents.
PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL 1 Lubuk Suhuing was appointed by the West Sumatra Provincial Education Office as one of the child-friendly schools. For this reason, we no longer use a violation score card for every error or violation made by a student. For example, a student is late, If you use a score card, the student gets points 5. Now we change it with a commitment sheet. Every student is committed to being disciplined and not violating school rules. That case was late, Students who are late write in their portfolio why they are late and what their future efforts will be so they won't be late again. If the student is late three times, this will be confirmed to his parents and a solution will be found so that he is not late again. Then the student chooses the consequences that must be carried out, such as reciting the Koran, Duha prayer, berinfak or pick up trash in the school yard.
To foster a spirit of cooperation, cooperation and responsibility, one of which is holding mandatory scouting activities. The form of activity we chose was PERSAMI (Saturday Sunday camp). For a long time, this persami activity could not be carried out due to various obstacles. Thanks to the cooperation and support of all teachers and employees, Persami activities can be carried out successfully.
Other routine monthly activities carried out are mutual cooperation and morning exercise, guru, employees and students together. This is done on the fourth week of every month on Friday and works together to clean the classroom and school environment. The aim of this activity is to foster a spirit of cooperation, care for each other, responsibility and mutual cooperation.
To increase IMTAQ and worship, there is a joint noon prayer program, Kultum every Friday morning, teenage wirid and tahfidz of the Koran. The officers rotate midday prayers every day in different classes, Likewise, the cultural officer takes turns in each class as the organizer. Youth wirid activities are held twice a month, namely the second week and the fourth week. Tahfidz activities are carried out every day, namely the Koran activity every morning is replaced with mujaroah (memorize) The Quran. Every month there will be a deposit of verses from each student to the supervising teacher. To control deposits verses we make cards. This year the target is that all students can memorize juz 30 and will graduate at the time of class promotion.
As a reflection that can be taken from the activities carried out. First, The principal must show and model discipline and promote 5S. Teachers and employees must also model discipline and cultivate 5S. Because teachers and employees are role models that all students will emulate. Second, The principal gives a commitment to teachers and students for the consequences and responsibilities of their actions. Third, The principal develops a culture of mutual cooperation and cooperation in every school activity. Fourth, The principal is open to providing space for worship to all school members.
