MAKE USE OF THE VIDEO EDIT APPLICATION (CAP CUT) AND SOCIAL MEDIA IN LEARNING

I am a class teacher 5 in SDN 10 Ulumahuan.

I see that most of my students have social media accounts and they can see that they are using video editing applications well but don't yet understand how to use social media wisely.. With the development of a curriculum that utilizes technology, I took the initiative to use social media as a presentation tool in learning material about economic activities utilizing nature in the surrounding environment..

My idea was rejected and not allowed by several parties. The first party is the Principal. He didn't allow it because he thought that students bringing Androids to school was violating school regulations which had been enforced by the general public.. However, when I communicate and explain, students need to get information about how to use social media well, and use social media wisely, Finally the Principal gave permission. Of course, with full attention to students so that learning objectives can be achieved.

Then the second rejection was conveyed by the students, with the reason that you only have one Android and you use it for work. I finally took the initiative by just using 1 android for 1 group. And my proposal was finally approved by the students' parents. Finally, this activity can be carried out.

Learning is carried out in stages

  1. Students are divided into several groups, and divide their respective tasks.
  2. Each group interviewed and directly observed the activities of the local community who used nature for economic activities to meet their living needs. Don't forget that students immortalize the activity in photos and videos.
  3. After getting some photos and videos, students edit videos using the capcut application and include voice recordings with scripts that they have discussed in each group.
  4. The results of their group work are uploaded to social media such as TikTok, Facebook and Instagram at the same time presented in front of other groups.

They did extraordinary cooperation in dividing group tasks.

Changes in learning that I see, students are more active and enthusiastic in the learning process, compact in collaboration, and better understand how to use social media wisely.
