Good practice elaboration

early: Craft learning is learning that has the characteristics of training creativity and producing creative products. So far, Students still do not have the ability to identify local problems or issues in the surrounding environment, so they have not been able to analyze solutions to overcome these local problems or issues. One of the problems that is often encountered is environmental problems due to waste, especially inorganic waste that cannot be decomposed naturally. In class VIII craft material, about hard waste crafts is expected to provide knowledge to students regarding types of waste, how to process hard waste through 3R (Reduce, Reuse, and Recyle), hard waste craft techniques, Analyze the needs for making hard waste crafts, and making inorganic hard waste crafts into business opportunities, namely bags.

Challenge: The difficulty faced when learning crafts is choosing the right learning model and being able to adjust the characteristics of the material so that it can train students' creative thinking abilities. Through a project learning model (project based learning) It is hoped that it can train students' creative thinking skills and provide knowledge to overcome environmental problems into business opportunities.

Action: Stages of learning through the project learning model (project based learning) is:

The teacher conveys problem orientation, namely in the form of video shows related to environmental issues, especially inorganic hard waste
Teachers provide opportunities for students to identify problems and look for alternative solutions
The teacher guides students in groups to design product plans “processing of inorganic hard waste into bags”
The teacher guides students in groups to prepare a schedule of project activities
The teacher monitors the activities of students in groups in completing the project
The teacher facilitates discussion activities through presentations of project results in the form of bags
Teachers and students test the results of processing inorganic hard waste into craft products in the form of bags
The teacher facilitates students in groups to evaluate and make improvement plans for the products that have been made.
The teacher and students make conclusions together and reflect on learning activities

Change: Through learning activities using learning models (project based learning) in class VIII-5 can train students' creative thinking abilities. Based on these activities, a creative product was obtained in the form of a bag. Apart from that, results were also obtained: Original thinking ability of 62,12% good category, flexible thinking skills of 78,79% good category, fluent thinking skills amount to 60,61% sufficient category, and detailed thinking skills of 59,85% sufficient category. The ability to think original and think flexibly is considered good, indicating that students are able to express ideas and choose the tools used in the design that will be created.. In contrast to the ability to think fluently and in detail, the category is sufficient to indicate that students are not yet able to present the results of a project report briefly and precisely but rich in information..
