Good Practice Initiative : Ms Asis Board Media (Hubungan Antara Sudut dan Garis) in Geometry learning
Objective : Increase students' understanding in mathematics learning activities regarding geometry material, especially the relationship between lines and angles
The idea to make this teaching aid emerged during a coaching practice from a community of practitioners at the school where one of the teacher's friends said that on the material Lines and Angles the students' daily test scores in the four classes taught were low.. Only 20% of the number of students from the four classes who took the Daily Test on Geometry material, especially on the Relationship Between Lines and Angles material, reached the KKM. Apart from that, from the results of my interviews and observations in class when conducting academic supervision together with the Principal in the class taught by this friend with students whose test scores were below the KKM, they complained that the material was difficult to understand.. Students are confused about differentiating types – a type of angle formed from two parallel lines cut by a line. Various methods are used, for example by using peer tutors using students who have completed their studies or using the help of learning videos sourced from YouTube. It turns out that this has not had a big impact on students.
After reading several books related to learning media. The idea arose to make a prop related to this material. I thought about making a teaching aid where students could interact directly with the learning media. I then discussed the concept of the learning media that I created with the electronics teacher at school. Based on input from the electronics teacher, I finally designed learning media using LED lights, resistor, switches and triplex. The media uses 350 3mm LED light with 4 different colors. Making the network is assisted by an electronics teacher, This learning media is completed in time 2 week and ready to be tested.
The following week, I and the teacher who were experiencing problems in learning then tried out the Biu Asis Board learning media, where previously we designed LKPD which would later help students independently understand the material on the Relationship Between Angles and Lines. The trial of the Bu Asis Board teaching aid coincided with the day of academic supervision from the school principal..
From the trials carried out, It can be seen that students are able to explore the lesson material independently guided by using LKPD. Through learning media designed interactively by pressing the switch button on the Bu Asis Board Learning media, students directly observe the types of angles formed by the flame of the LED light.. So that students are able to discover concepts from the material studied.
From the results of the reflection carried out at the end of the learning activity, it turns out that many of the students enjoyed the learning activity using the Bu Asis Board learning media.. They feel happy and enthusiastic because they are directly involved in building their understanding regarding the material being studied. I also felt very happy because it turned out that the learning media we created was able to make students active in learning activities. However, Due to limited costs, only one learning media was created. Thus, learning activities are carried out in groups and each group takes turns using the learning media created. Alhamdulillah, the response from the school principal was also very positive regarding the creation of this learning media. I also immortalized the progress of making this learning media in the form of a report on making learning media which I can later use in my future promotion..
