Creating meaningful and enjoyable learning is currently very important for every educator and needs to be given more attention because the educational situation of the students we face is different.. The impact of the pandemic has resulted in learning loss which is very worrying. Menurut The Education and Development Forum (2020), Learning loss is a condition where students lose general or specific knowledge and skills, or the occurrence of academic setbacks due to certain conditions, such as a prolonged gap or a learning process that is not taking place optimally. This learning loss can occur because there is limited space for direct communication between students and educators, limited communication between students, or because of loss of focus due to learning situations that are not conducive during online learning (Munawaroh & Nurmalasari, 2021)

The impact of this learning loss is exacerbating the learning crisis and increasing learning gaps that Indonesia has been experiencing (Merdeka Learn Episode 15). And according to several studies, learning loss causes students to experience difficulties in understanding lessons, trigger stress, to symptoms of depression which cause students to lose motivation to learn and their grades decrease (Tang et.al., 2021)

According to Bransetter (2022) Students who have emotional burdens will have difficulty learning effectively because of anxiety, Stress and emotional turmoil can hinder the learning process, and excessive stress can reduce cognitive abilities, such as the ability to pay attention, solve the problem, carry out analysis and critical thinking skills (Whiting et.al., 2021). Meanwhile happiness (happiness) It is thought to improve cognitive abilities and social-emotional connections (Brandsetter, 2022)

CHALLENGE

So it is our collective responsibility as educators to be able to restore our students' learning motivation and how to restore their trust in school, that school is a fun and important place to prepare their future. If you teach in old ways without paying attention to the diversity of students' achievement levels, Of course it will be difficult for the learning we carry out to be successful. Because most of our students are currently not ready to learn after two years, they are used to studying without pressure, without proper supervision, and without a serious thought process, because it is so easy to access information and internet technology that it provides many instant conveniences, including in learning.

Another thing that we should also pay attention to is the tendency of our students after the pandemic is that they become a digital literate generation.. Their ability to access and use technology is developing very quickly. Although some are still unable to utilize this ability properly. So it is in accordance with Ki Hajar Dewantara's thoughts that we should teach according to the nature of our students' times, So it is time for us as educators to also improve our digital literacy competencies so that we can provide learning experiences according to students' needs, and more importantly, provide experience on how to use technology in a positive and effective way.

ACTION

As a first step in differentiation learning, what I do is distribute a form containing questions related to students' interest in art/or other interesting things that I relate to the tolerance material.. If you are not used to using Google forms, you can use other applications that are commonly used or we can ask directly then we mark them in the list of names that we have..

From the results of the diagnostic assessment it is known 36.1% children who like to learn with video media, ada 25% children who like to learn using comic media, , ada 25% Children also like to learn using interesting and existing photos/pictures 13.9 % students who like to learn using short story media, For this reason, teaching materials are prepared according to the types of interests of students.

The next step is to create a differentiation hyperdoc. Hyperdoc is a Google Document that can be designed in such a way according to user needs so that one document page can contain various kinds of teaching materials, Student worksheets and other necessary links are in one interface so that they are easier to access and make learning more interesting and interactive. Another advantage of this hyperdoc is that it can provide students with the opportunity to learn at their own pace. In hyperdocs, the material and assignment sheets are available in digital form and can be accessed from various types of devices.

We can use Hyperdoc directly by sharing the link in the class WhatsApp group or integrating it into Google Classroom. For the learning I do, I sent this hyperdoc link in the classroom to make it easier for me to monitor students' learning progress.

Another advantage of this differentiated Hyperdoc is that it can be used and modified by anyone who needs it by clicking on the file then selecting make a copy., then adjusted to the level and material being taught. Basically, this hyperdoc application is easy to learn and use, but if you still haven't mastered this application, we can carry out differentiation learning with a diagnostic assessment of learning interest offline by printing out the materials.

The differentiation learning syntax that I do is as follows :

1. Preliminary Activities

The introductory activities are filled with positive culture instilling activities, namely, among other things, praying together, check student attendance, apperception, and strengthening class agreements that have been made and reflecting on one's own learning regarding the material to be studied. Reflection activities at the beginning of learning are carried out by asking students to answer reflective questions related to tolerance material and then write them on post-it paper. After that, several students were asked to convey the results of their reflections directly to their friends. After that, all students were asked to stick it in front of the class so they could read each other's reflections together. To increase learning motivation, Students are invited to create Pancasila student profile slogans and convey the learning objectives that will be carried out.

1. Core activities

In the core activity, students are asked to access the hyperdoc that has been shared on Google Classroom and study the material according to their respective learning interests., For students who like short stories, study material from the short story tolerance, who like videos learn material from videos, who like comics study material from comics, Those who like interesting photos/images study material from photo collages, and those who like poetry study material from poetry, After that, each child analyzes the content of the material on the hyperdoc worksheet that has been provided. After each has finished studying the material, work on the analysis worksheet independently, Students are directed to discuss with friends next to them to explore the tolerance material and then do material review assignments using voice typing, which is one of the hyperdoc features..

The next learning step is to carry out learning outside the classroom. Namely creating a digital comic project with the theme of tolerance as a group, as a form of reflection on their understanding of the tolerant material. The tools used are cellphones and the comic life application. After being given an explanation of the process of taking pictures and how to edit them, In groups, students are invited to look for inspiration from the internet and create a story line, then share the task with the group, who plays the character in the story and who is the photographer?. After completing the story line, students and their groups are asked to look for a place they like to take photos according to the story they have created.. At the next meeting after finishing the digital comic project, Students are asked to present their work in front of their friends, the other.

1. Closing Activities

Learning ends with reflection activities, strengthening and preparing activities for the next meeting. Reflection activities at the end of the lesson are used to find out how students feel after taking part in the lesson using differentiation hyperdoc media and creating a digital comic project with the theme of what tolerance is good., and what needs to be improved. For reflection activities, students are asked to fill in the padlet link

Learning

  • By paying attention to Voice, Choice and ownership of our students, then the learning carried out will be more meaningful
  • We live in the world, where technology has become part of our daily lives, don't be anti-starch, but let's provide a positive and productive experience so that it can be a provision for them to be able to compete globally in the future
