The bell rings 3x, a sign of changing class hours. The clock strikes 08.40 wita. I rushed to the classroom. At the classroom door I stood and said "Assalamu Alaikum wr wb." At the same time, the students responded to my greeting. As usual, after the class leader prepared the class, I also asked about the students' readiness for the lesson they were going to learn.
Suddenly there was a voice from the door greeting him. I turned to the door, apparently there were students who were late for class. He also apologized for coming in late. However, according to the agreement agreed upon when making the Class Confidence, The student suffers the consequences of what he has done.
I asked him to read the Koran, but he just bowed and remained silent. “Why just bow and be silent, Son?” I said.
"Sorry ma'am, I don't know how to read the Qur'an,” He said.
Hmm, Oh, I see, Son.
I also motivated him to strengthen his heart.
Sorry ma'am, "Can I learn to read the Qur'an with Mother?? he said.
Can, With pleasure. So, Can you go to study during the 2nd break?, Son. And he came at the agreed time.
From that case, I tried to chat with the Principal. The principal also responded. Then hold discussions with colleagues to handle and find solutions. This case is a lesson for us to continue making efforts to ensure students can read the Qur'an fluently when and after graduating from this school.. The steps we take, that is ; we carry out mapping of student learning needs, Then students are grouped according to their learning needs and guided by their teacher.
Through the GERLIQ Program (Qur'an Literacy Movement) The enthusiasm of the students as seen from their responses adds to our enthusiasm as teachers. And we hope that students can strengthen social interactions in a positive, wise and wise manner. Students who are already fluent in reading the Al Qur'an become tutors for students who are not yet able/fluent in reading the Al Qur'an, apart from the teacher.
The GERLIQ program can be a talent channel for students to continue to develop their talents and explore their potential. . The consistency of GERLIQ implementation and the lack of student enthusiasm for the program can also be a challenge for the sustainability of the program.
To realize the implementation of GERLIQ, we are undertaking various stages, that is:
Students can not only read the Koran fluently, but also able to write and understand its meaning. Involving students in designing school programs that have a positive impact is very necessary, as a form of collaboration and partners to support each other in realizing quality education.
