Good practice elaboration

Starting from the problem of low literacy skills, So I had the idea to develop literacy activities in the educational unit school where I teach. Starting with small things that can become good habits to make a change in the world of education.

The challenge that is felt is that when we look at the data, our country is low in literacy, meaning that most of the students in Indonesia are at elementary school level, SMP, High school and even college, Reading habits are very poor. Therefore, One of the challenges in carrying out literacy activities is of course that students' interest in reading is very low, which causes a lack of motivation to read a lot. That is the biggest challenge in getting students used to reading or literacy. Apart from that, it is also related to reading, so writing ability will also be affected.

The action taken by creating a literacy movement program is packaged with collaboration between students and teachers in reading and writing together. Starting from forming a literacy team, Each student prepares a book to read but is not a textbook, that is, both fiction and non-fiction books. Regular checking of students' reading results by the class teacher, and the literacy team distributed check list sheets to homeroom teachers to check how many books were read by students in their respective classes. Reveal students' reading results in their own language in front of other students. The Literacy Team facilitates students who have read many books, given the opportunity to publish books according to the student's interests or type of writing

The impact of the change is that students are increasingly inspired or motivated to continue reading and writing and even make books and contact publishers, not only that, several local media such as Radar Cianjur, Cianjur News, students send their writing. During the article writing competition, our students won 1 wrote articles throughout Cianjur district held by the Cianjur branch of the Indonesian Journalists Association
