  1. MAROS NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL DEGREE OF INDEPENDENT LEARNING WORKS

(GARDA SMANAS)

Early

I am an Indonesian language subject teacher at Maros National High School. Besides being a subject teacher, I also gained trust as an OSIS Supervisor. As a teacher, I have a lot of hopes for developing the potential in the students at school. But unfortunately, This hope is inversely proportional to the condition of students who have very low enthusiasm for learning. They are more likely to play on cellphones. Some are playing games, tiktok, There are even students who do live IG. This makes me feel like I have failed as a teacher. There are many things that I feel like I have done but apparently have not produced the results that were in line with what was expected. I realized that I needed to implement some fun learning processes for the students, I also realized that the process was not optimal, and there were still many shortcomings, so I collaborated with my colleagues to create a program with the aim of developing students' talents and interests. After several discussions, Finally we agreed to create the Independent Learning Work Degree Program at Maros National High School, which we now call GARDA SMANAS.

CHALLENGE

I encountered many challenges in the preparation process for implementing the GARDA SMANAS program. One of them is that several colleagues, including the school principal, feel doubtful regarding the students' response to this program, They think, whether students can show their talents considering that so far their learning process has been mediocre. There's nothing interesting about them. Another challenge is the lack of support from students' parents, they feel that this kind of activity is not important, so there is no benefit in involving their children. From all these challenges, The issue of funding is the main problem that makes school residents doubtful, they think that events like this usually require quite a lot of funds, so it is difficult to realize this GARDA SMANAS program. Based on these challenges. I have to review the program, then provide an explanation regarding the main aim of the GARDA SMANAS program, which is to develop self-confidence in students. It means that, This program does not demand perfect results. The point is that the students want to process. And this will be my PR, How do I invite and involve students to realize this GARDA SMANAS program without any coercion. As an answer to all challenges, I started embracing the students, I approached them, and convey the purpose of this program and convince them that this is not an obligation, they have the right to speak out if something is not in line with their expectations, they are the owners of this program, so that they have the right to manage every agenda that will be carried out in this program. Some students started to move, they ask for directions regarding the work to be displayed, they started practicing by taking advantage of rest hours. Initially it was just poetry and padduppa dance, finally from day to day, One by one the students began to volunteer to sing solo, rhymed, cult, dan tari kreasi. There were also students who asked to be involved in event preparations such as MCs, documentation, stage decoration, and consumption. In theory, everything looked cooked, but the training process was really chaotic, D-3 they haven't mastered the dance moves and haven't memorized the song lyrics, even though they themselves chose it. I felt irritated and very disappointed, I thought about canceling this program. But remembering what my hopes were, I gave them another chance, with a feeling of “okay whatever the outcome, I surrender. At least I've tried my best.".

ACTION

To realize this GARDA SMANAS program, I embrace and invite the entire school community to discuss, saling berbagi ide, and collaborate, Even though it's not easy, I show my work enthusiasm directly, they voluntarily joined and involved themselves in the success of this program. Challenge after challenge was answered through discussions about the management and utilization of school assets. The school community's doubts began to diminish, replaced by enthusiasm and optimism. My colleagues and I collaborate and work together very well, we share the task of building, train and accompany students in the process of preparing for work degrees so that students are more focused and feel more cared for. Furthermore, I contacted the students' parents both by telephone, chat, or meet directly with the aim of asking them for permission so that their children will be given the opportunity to take part in the training process which we sometimes carry out until the afternoon, and to increase support from parents, We invite them to attend the work title activity in accordance with the invitation that the committee has made.

H-2, I, committee, and the entire school community worked together to install bamboo tents to make efficient use of the budget, We use the school hall as a stage for students' work performances so that we don't have to pay rent, We decorated it using fabric from alumni who have businesses in the field of wedding decorations, again proper utilization of assets, because alumni lend it for free. For music, We utilize the school's sound system which, although relatively small in size, is sufficient to introduce GARDA SMANAS to the school environment and local residents.. We make use of the chairs in the classroom for guests and spectators, adjusted to the number of invited guests and the estimated audience who come to watch.

LESSON

The long awaited day has arrived, SMANAS GARDA finally showed its action. This is very exciting for me because this is the answer to all the efforts and cooperation of the entire school community. One by one the students appeared to present their work. To open the event there were students who performed the "A'ngaru" action., which continued with the padduppa dance to welcome all the guests who were present. Then the MC took over the event to make it more focused, the students began to show their appearance, including several teachers and staff collaborated to present Pancasila student profile exercises as a form of appreciation for the students' hard work so far. The thunderous applause from the boisterous invited guests gave encouragement to all involved. Even, The chairman of our foundation whispered to the MC and gave a surprise by presenting a poem of his own composition which was echoed on stage.. The atmosphere created in this GARDA SMANAS program is extraordinary. After the series of events is finished, all school residents and invited guests (parents of students) conducting a group photo session as documentation of the implementation of this program exceeding my initial expectations. The event ended and thank God we received a good response from the school, especially the school principal who allowed this program to be on the even semester agenda as a school co-curricular activity. Of course this is a breath of fresh air for all of us, for all the efforts and struggles over time 10 days to prepare for the implementation of this program. This means that in the next even semester, I have to be more prepared in finalizing the concept, embracing all school members to work together, and continue to guide students so that they are always enthusiastic in developing their talents and interests in the various opportunities available at school, with the hope that in the social environment they will be more confident. Through this program, I learned that to develop potential in students, there are many ways that can be done, salah satunya adalah melalui kegiatan atau program yang sesuai dengan bakat dan minat para murid. In the process, students learn about responsibility, mutual cooperation, cooperate, voice an opinion, and learn to respect and appreciate each other.

“Ayo bergerak secara inovatif untuk mewujudkan kepemimpinan murid yang lebih berkarakter”
