Eco Panic ( Eco enzymes from organic waste)
Our school has a large yard which can be used as a school mini garden. This situation makes it possible to grow various useful plants such as vegetables, fruits, Nor shady trees. Therefore, rubbish from fallen leaves or fruit falling from trees piles up in the school yard. There is a misunderstanding among students that cleaning the school environment is the job of the school staff. This is a concern for us so it is important to find a solution immediately.
The challenge is that students are not yet aware that keeping the school environment clean is a collective task. Apart from that, teachers also need to design learning that involves students and their environment as learning resources.
From the results of the analysis of the assets owned by the school, we started Designing P5 learning. Making learning fun for students by involving the school environment as a learning resource, namely turning waste into something useful. We designed the ATP P5 starting from recognizing organic waste in the school environment, collect organic waste, and processing organic waste, namely fruit and vegetable waste, into Eco enzyme products. Eco enzyme is a multi-purpose liquid resulting from fermentation of vegetable and fruit waste, Brown sugar, and water. The manufacturing process lasts 3 month. This eco enzyme is beneficial for health to treat various skin diseases, scratches, Burns, luka diabetes, and so on. Students practice how to make Eco enzyme themselves. After completing the production of Eco enzyme products, Students share their work with school members and the community.
After this series of activities, students finally realized that cleanliness of the school environment is a shared responsibility. Students also understand how to recycle organic waste into useful work. Students are able to create works of Eco enzyme products and carry out sharing activities in the school and community environment.
