The Role of the Education Department in the P3D Initiative
Pak Usman from the Education Department received direction from the regional head to accelerate the local food security program. The target is clear: there are visible results.
However, when visiting several schools, he saw things differently. A lot of learning still happens in the classroom, and not yet connected to the lives of the surrounding community.
Mr. Usman began to see the distance between the two. Regional programs run themselves. School also runs on its own.
He did not directly give instructions. He invited the principal and his team to discuss.
“If we want to support regional food security,he asked, “What can students learn from the environment around them?”
From that conversation a simple idea emerged: project-based learning about local food, which involves students learning with farmers around the school.
Pak Usman then bridged the meeting between schools, agriculture department, and corn farmer groups. Schools are given space to plan learning, while local governments open access and support.
Students began to take to the field. Learn directly from farmers. Connecting knowledge with real practice. Learning outcomes don't stop in the classroom, but discussed together as part of efforts to strengthen regional programs.
Big indirect changes. But direction is beginning to be felt. Schools are no longer separated from regional needs. And regional programs are no longer far from the student learning process.
From there, Mr Usman realized: The role of the Education Department is not just to run programs, but to bridge the direction of regional development into a meaningful learning space for schools and students.

The Role of Regional Heads in the P3D Initiative
Mr Budi, a regional head, establish local food security as one of the development priorities. He wants real change: production increases, society is more independent, and regional potential is truly utilized.
However, on several visits to schools, he saw things differently. Pupils learn well in class, but not much connected with the potential and problems in their own region. Pak Budi began to see the distance between the two. Development programs run with targets and indicators. The school runs according to its curriculum and schedule.
He then tried a different approach. He invited the Education Department, headmaster, and related agencies to sit together.
“Food security is a regional direction,”He said, “how schools can be part of that process, not just the audience?”
From that conversation a simple idea emerged: project-based learning that highlights local food as a learning context. Students don't just learn theory, but also directly down to the field, interact with farmers, and understand the processes that occur in society.
Pak Budi doesn't stop at ideas. He ensured that the relevant agencies opened data access, source person, and collaboration space. It also gives space for schools to plan learning according to their respective contexts, without burdening you with additional administrative demands.
Big indirect changes. But things are starting to look different. Schools are no longer separate from regional development. And regional development is no longer far from the student learning process.
From there, Mr Budi realized: Regional leadership is not just about implementing priority programs, but about aligning the direction of development with the learning process of the generations that will continue it.

Look for the closest Learning Mission questions. For example, your experience of Positive Discipline, but you didn't find any specific questions about that theme, You can take missions about Class Management. Need to be a note, Learning Mission questions are generally made more general so they can cover various experiences and situations experienced by teachers.

For purposes as a speaker for TPN XI, The TPN committee will report the mission data that passes to the regional committee. So, The regional committee will contact the authors of the missions that pass, whether willing to be a speaker at the regional TPN XI or not. For publication purposes in the Teacher Learning Newspaper, The editorial team will send invitations to mission writers who pass to write more complete stories in accordance with editorial provisions. However, In the future, our team will provide information about PASSING or NOT on the Learning Mission website.
