My good practice is learning simulations through the Phet application. Phet, which is learning software from the University of Colorado, is a free research-based interactive simulation that provides physics learning simulations, chemistry, biology, earth sciences and mathematics. This application is a virtual lab that is used for virtual lab learning without using tools and materials in the laboratory.
SIMULATION OF LEARNING THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF PHET
when I started devoting myself to the world of education, especially teaching in the field of science ( Physics ) I really want to see that my students are no different from schools in the city, I want my students to be able to achieve learning goals, besides mastering theory, they can also apply it in the surrounding environment. To make students understand material more deeply, of course they have to be directly involved in practicing it, So I realized how important it is for students to carry out practicums to balance theory with conducting experiments. paying attention to the current conditions where times are in the digital era so students cannot be separated from their devices. This has become a habit for students at school. I will continue to reflect to optimize my students' habits so that they can produce a positive impact on learning.
The biggest challenge faced is the increasing use of gadgets among students so that many of them are dependent, especially on online games, which causes learning in class to be less effective because students only focus on their devices and the use of these devices is still not optimized in the learning process so that gadgets which should be one way of solving problems in learning are still used by students for things that are not important..
After facing many challenges and obstacles, I tried using an application called Phet, Phet, which is learning software from the University of Colorado, is a free research-based interactive simulation that provides physics learning simulations, chemistry, biology, earth sciences and mathematics. This Phet creates an abstract animation that cannot be seen by the naked eye, like an atom, electron, photos, and magnetic fields. The only interaction carried out is moving objects, pressing the button, or enter data and the results of the interaction can be seen immediately, so it is very good to use in carrying out experiments without using any more tools and materials in the laboratory because the tools and materials are already available in this Phet application.
The fun of this application is that we no longer do practicums in laboratories where equipment is limited, but we use virtual labs because we see that nowadays everything is digital, so I can't just give up, but I can optimize it to provide the best for my students and this application is very interesting because students are engrossed in receiving learning, not only online directly, but also offline by downloading learning simulations.. Through this application, students who are dependent on devices feel happy with this learning because they are in direct contact with students' pleasures and habits.
The lesson I got from this application is that students who used to still use their devices to play games, but by applying Phet, they can use their devices right on target, namely digital-based learning. . Students are also happy because they can learn while playing in the simulation. The experience I get from students is educating them to have a constructivist mindset where students combine initial knowledge with virtual findings from simulations that are run .
