As a teacher, I am responsible for the success of students' learning. Refer to the Education report card, that low student literacy scores may result in a lack of motivation and enthusiasm for students to read books. Moreover, several years ago we experienced a pandemic. Where was that time?, Students are not allowed to meet their teachers face to face, which means online learning. There are some students who do not participate in online learning. The reason could be that the material presented by the teacher is less interesting. Many students do not show their faces when learning via Zoom.
The learning objective that will be achieved in the TUGU SAJUTA program is that students will be able to retell what they have read in their own language., good with writing, tell stories directly like a vlogger, or design a picture to tell a story according to the student's talents and interests.
However, it turns out that this program has many challenges, The first is that students feel bored quickly because they only read story books that contain a lot of writing. Secondly, students are difficult to control because their only job is to read and they think reading is something they usually do. However, they did not understand the full content of the story. So they are less than optimal in telling stories in their own language.
I started looking for strategies to face these challenges by discussing them with teachers and parents. One of them is the TUGU SAJUTA program, which is a one-week program with one story title that collaborates with the fathers and mothers of the students' guardians in turns according to their schedule.. The task of the father or mother of the student's guardian here is to accompany the students during reading activities. In agreement with the parents, this activity is carried out at the beginning before learning begins, namely hit 07.00 until o'clock 07.30. This activity starts from class 1 until class 6. in this program, Students are free to choose the title of the story as they wish. The story book can be in the form of an offline story book and can also be in the form of a comic in the Kipin School application. Implementing it also depends on each person's talents and interests.
Unexpectedly, with this activity the students were more enthusiastic about reading and even the ways to implement it were also varied. Starting from rewriting the story like a writer, There are also those who want to tell stories in front of the camera, in other words, become vloggers even though they are still shy, and there are also those who make it happen with their image designs. From here I know that the TUGU SAJUTA program helps students become happy with literacy, Apart from that, it also helps to make his dreams come true. It's not just the students who are happy, but also as a teacher I am happy to see the progress of my students.
