As a school principal, I always try to help teachers change their minds about developments in the digital era. The aim is for teachers to be willing to adapt and be able to use technological devices for the learning process in the classroom. One of them is inviting teachers to study independently at PMM, so that they find solutions to learning problems in the classroom.
BUILDING TEACHERS' AWARENESS FOR INDEPENDENT LEARNING IN THE DIGITAL ERA THROUGH THE MERDEKA TEACHING PLATFORM
Becoming a school principal in the era of digitalization, I want my teachers to be teachers who are able to carry out the learning process in ways that are appropriate to current conditions. Not teachers who still use old methods in carrying out the learning process, namely only using the lecture method and asking students to take notes in notebooks. I want the teachers at my school to keep up with current developments in the world of education, such as being able to use technological devices, changing learning patterns, carry out differentiated learning and provide learning opportunities for students according to their interests and talents.
If you look at the current conditions at the school that I lead, of the number of class teachers, ada 6 people, subject teachers 4 people, that matches my competence with what I want only 3 people ie 2 class teachers and 1 subject teachers. From 7 people who lack competence in using IT, ada 2 people who always use age as an excuse for not wanting to learn. This makes me as a school principal have to work hard to raise the awareness of teachers so that they want to learn to change the learning patterns carried out in the classroom so that they are no longer monopolized by teachers.. I want my teachers to teach with learning patterns that make students happy in learning.
To make this wish come true, I try to raise the awareness of my teachers by means of (1) said that currently the school is using the Independent Curriculum, (2) invites teachers to study and understand what the Merdeka Curriculum is by studying independently on the Merdeka Mengajar Platform (PMM), (3) helps teachers open PMM to choose the right topics to study, (4) control and evaluate the activities of teachers, how far they have progressed in surfing PMM. Apart from that, I also brought in competent resource persons to train teachers to use Canva as a learning medium. To launch these activities, As the principal, I lent chromebook devices to the teachers and bought an orbit internet package so that the internet network runs smoothly when the teachers work at school.. Apart from lending out chroombooks and buying internet packages, I was also present with the teachers at school accompanying them in their work. I continue to build togetherness like this with the hope that the teachers at the school I lead will be able to take lessons from the inspirational videos they watch on PMM as a solution to the problems they face in presenting learning at school.. After they understand the message from the video in PMM, They are also able to present learning using Canva media.
It is not easy to build teacher awareness to want to learn independently at PMM. However, as a school principal, I cannot give up easily. I continue to make various efforts. I form a learning community at school. In learning community activities, I appointed one of the competent teachers as coordinator and person in charge. Learning community activities are focused on how teachers want to open PMM features to take real action and learn from the material in PMM.. Gradually, teachers have started to open up and learn independently through PMM and present lessons in class using Canva media so that learning is interesting for students..
