Preparation of Good Practices
Early Childhood Education, especially during the golden age, is a golden period for forming children's character. It started with observations of the bounding of children and parents in several outing activities school class, where there are some parents who tend to 'not have the heart' when their children do their own activities and take over the child's learning process by intervening. For example, when taking off your shoes, bring lunch, feed, and so on. Especially for students who are only children. Not to mention if what the child does is not according to the parents' wishes, then the parents will reprimand them in high intonation, sometimes even accompanied by a pinch. Of course, this can be traumatic for children because they feel embarrassed in front of other people. In fact, since the beginning of the new school year at school, teachers have started practicing good habits, such as wearing their own shoes, tidy up the dining area, etc. with the hope that it can also be implemented continuously at home
The students were actually very happy when this discourse was accidentally discussed after the Duha prayer session. However, when we conveyed Mabit's plan at the regular meeting of parents of students which is held every month, things that are thought to have happened. Parents refused on the grounds that the child was not yet independent and thought it was 'too small' for the child to stay overnight in the school environment. Apart from that, according to parents, there are some children who have unique habits before going to bed and they are worried that this will make it difficult for the child to stay overnight. Although it has been emphasized that it can be conveyed to the class teacher, for example regarding milk measurements, snacks, etc., but there are some parents who indicate that they do not include their children in Mabit activities
Mabit activities are carried out in the school environment, 2 week after the regular monthly meeting with parents. Ada 36 of the total number of students who registered for Mabit activities 52 child. The event starts in the afternoon in mid-February. Parents accompany their students with overnight equipment and are allowed to stay in the school area until 12:00 p.m 17.30 WITA because students will prepare for Maghrib prayers in congregation, preceded by the practice of ablution with water.
The students come dressed in Muslim clothes and bring their own prayer equipment and Iqro to then recite the Koran together until Isha time arrives and return to praying Isha together.. The school called for storytellers with a material theme of independence and then paused with a dinner break. The school prepares the same eating and drinking utensils for all children with a menu of fried rice nuggets. Before going to bed, the students watch cartoons together about a Muslim child who is 'different' from his friends because he had a disorder when he was a child, so he uses a prosthetic leg.. Children learn not to differentiate between Allah SWT's creations through audio-visual media. Children who bring snacks are encouraged to share with their friends. There are also those who bring toys and take turns with each other
It has struck 21.00 WITA students are getting ready for bed. Children change into pajamas and brush their teeth before going to bed. Rooms for men and women are separated. This is where children start to look for habits to do at home, such as having their back rubbed, caressed hair, dll. There are even some who actually still sleep using disposable diapers. But because I spent the night with friends, So I'm embarrassed to wear diapers. There are also those who want to just go home when it's approaching midnight. Thank God, this is also a challenge for teachers on how to persuade children and remind them of their initial goal of being independent. Through the long drama, thank God, the students all slept at 1 o'clock 01.00 Wita. However, parents' chats never stop filling up notifications whatsapp just ask how your child is doing or ask for documentation, either photos or videos
Arrive before the dawn call to prayer, students are woken up slowly 04.30 WITA. Take ablution and spread out the prayer mat. When the call to prayer is heard, the dhikr is also heard 05.30. The children tidied up their prayer equipment and prepared for morning exercise by walking around the school. After gathering back in the yard, do gymnastics together and have breakfast of green bean porridge. The child then tidies up the eating utensils and prepares to take a shower in the morning to go home. Parents pick up the bat 08.00 or finish the dhuha prayer in congregation
Student Response :
Enter on Monday of the following week, Children no longer allow their parents to take them to class because they feel they have 'successfully' stayed at school without their parents accompanying them. There were even children who asked for a longer stay ( 1 birthday 1 week) because they feel that school provides a place for children to explore the learning process (wear your own shoes, shower yourself, change your own clothes, dll). Maybe because they had stayed overnight together, The frequency of students fighting decreases and makes the story of staying at school something fun to tell over and over again. The students' response was very positive , make children more confident
