Class 6 SD GagasCeria designed project-based learning activities to collect quantitative data on electricity use in the school environment. This data collection uses Micro:Bits to measure the light intensity in each room and a power meter to identify devices “Energy Vampire” which consumes electricity when not in use. With this data, they provide recommendations to schools and run campaigns to encourage younger students to use electricity wisely.
Electricity is an important component in supporting daily activities, including in the field of education. In everyday life, we use electricity for lighting, turn on the TV, or charging Chromebook. But have we ever asked students to think about whether we are using electricity wisely??
Kami ingin mendorong siswa untuk lebih sadar akan efektivitas penggunaan listrik di kelas atau sekolah, namun terkadang kami bingung harus mulai dari mana. Apakah membandingkan tagihan listrik bulanan merupakan kegiatan yang bermakna bagi siswa? Ataukah pencatatan penggunaan token listrik di sekolah sudah cukup memberikan dampak bagi mereka?
Menyikapi permasalahan ini, kelas enam SD GagasCeria telah merancang pembelajaran berbasis proyek yang mendorong siswa mengumpulkan data kuantitatif penggunaan listrik di lingkungan SD GagasCeria.
Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan dua alat utama:

Some of the recommendations include suggesting specific times to turn on lights and identifying which devices should be unplugged from the power source to prevent them from turning on Energy Vampires. Apart from providing recommendations to the school, The students also carried out campaigns in class 1-5 to encourage younger students to use electricity more wisely in the classroom.
