Action
So far, this has often happened in group work, Its members must be heterogeneous both in gender and academic level. The hope is that students who already understand will guide or teach their friends who don't yet understand. However, what often happens is that in one group not everyone works/studies, only the smart/understanding ones work, the other friends just share their names in the group. Many factors cause this. For example, a child who already understands can't wait to teach, Communication that exists in groups is also less effective because there is a sense of superiority from those who are smart and a sense of inferiority and lack of confidence from children who do not yet understand how to express their opinions..
Challenge
The situation above is a challenge for me to form a healthy group, where communication runs both ways so that learning objectives can be achieved
Action
Then I created 3 The type of group is an independent group (without teacher guidance), the medium scavolding group, namely the teacher facilitates students occasionally asking if there is something they don't understand and the full scavolding group. In the full scavolding group the teacher provides complete facilitation starting from repeating material that is not yet understood to teaching questions to work on. In other words the teacher sits together with the group at full scavolding, teach and discuss together until they finally present the results they got or until the learning objectives are achieved.
My way of grouping this is first by carrying out an assessment of previous learning or also by self-assessing the students.
Change.
Initially implementing this model of group work, many students were embarrassed because they were in an underprivileged group which they often labeled as a stupid group. However, as time goes by, they really feel the benefits of this type of group work. Communication in the group went well because there was no hesitation in asking questions or expressing opinions because psychologically they felt at the same level, Independent groups are increasingly enthusiastic about learning, compete sportingly with a group of friends. Apart from that, children are also getting better at assessing themselves and are no longer embarrassed to walk into groups that require moderate scavolding or full scavolding.. This is because both groups are independent, the medium scavolding group and the full scavolding group were equally successful in achieving their learning goals. Happy heart, Happy learning, the results make you happy.
