I am a Guidance Counseling teacher who is also the homeroom teacher in the class 7. Class students 7 are new students who come from various backgrounds from their original elementary school, various areas of residence, various habits at home and various learning styles of each student. The diverse backgrounds of students are both an asset and a challenge for teachers, especially homeroom teachers, in creating student leadership, student leadership (Student Agency) This means students are involved, The student becomes the subject of a decision, that way students will also be ready to be the object of this decision.
CHALLENGE
A teacher or homeroom teacher should be able to lead his students to be empowered and become independent humans. Student leadership (Student Agency) is about students acting actively and making responsible decisions and choices, rather than simply accepting what is determined by others. To create student leadership (Student Agency), The homeroom teacher has a fairly large role, because in fact the class students 7 still need guidance and assistance from teachers, especially homeroom teachers as facilitators. In facilitating students to become Student Agency , The homeroom teacher can carry out activities with students, namely decorating the class.
ACTION
To create student leadership (Student Agency) The homeroom teacher and the students discuss and present what the student's dream class would be like. By discussing, The homeroom teacher has given students the opportunity to express their voices ( Voice ) , make a choice (Choice), that way students will feel like they belong (Ownership) what he chooses through real action. Decorate the classroom according to what the students say, according to the shape they choose will make students feel like they belong to their class and look after the class they have decorated, and they will be confident to invite their friends in different classes to do the same thing.
