PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL 1 Lintau, which is one of the oldest high schools in Tanah Datar Regency, has dozens of extracurricular activities to accommodate the talents and interests of students numbering more than 962 people. However, the problem is that there are still students who do not choose extracurricular activities because they do not suit their talents and interests.
Look at this problem, I then interviewed students who did not participate in extracurricular activities to find out more information about the students' talents and interests. Based on the results of the interview, it turns out that many students have an interest in the content field, starting from editing, photography, videography And public speaking. Among the students interviewed were students who had earned around twenty million rupiah from their content on YouTube. Apart from that, there are also several students who have received endorse food, drinks and clothes on their respective Instagram accounts. They hope that there are extracurricular activities that can accommodate and develop their talents and interests.
I then had the idea to create an extracurricular program which would later become a forum for students to channel their talents and interests appropriately. However, there are several problems that will be faced, Such as inadequate facilities and infrastructure, support from the principal and other school members, and there are not as many participants as other extracurricular participants.
Adhering to students' independence in getting extracurricular activities that suit their talents and interests, I then tried to design an extracurricular program which was then delivered in the Academic Year preparation workshop activities. 2022/2023. The principal and the entire school community support this new extracurricular. This extracurricular is one of the extracurriculars that is based on the nature of the times, where skills in the field of creative content are highly regarded today. Besides that, This extracurricular can produce useful content and can promote the school to the outside community.
Currently, the content creator extracurricular has been running for one year with participants 4 students from class X and Class XI. There are many changes in students, they are more independent in creating content and can also work well together. The content they produce is also useful in school promotion. This is demonstrated by the success of content creators in winning championships 1 in the Cheerful Ramadhan competition held by the West Sumatra Provincial Education Office. Nevertheless, It cannot be denied that there are shortcomings in this relatively new extracurricular program. However, with encouragement and enthusiasm from all school members morally and materially, extracurricular activities will be made even better..
