Teachers successfully overcome the challenges of teaching new subjects to students by designing innovative lessons. Through the use of technology and active interaction, he succeeded in creating a lively and enthusiastic classroom atmosphere. This success shows the importance of adapting to the times in education
English is a new subject for class VII students at the beginning of the school year, so his presence in class was so foreign. My goal is to create interesting and comfortable learning, so they can overcome fears and difficulties in learning English. Although this subject was absent in the curriculum during 10 year (not taught in elementary school), I am determined to provide an innovative approach to inspire interest in learning English.
Students initially feel awkwardness and uncertainty in learning English. Some of them showed fear and some even honestly said "I can't speak English ma'am" when learning was about to start. It is truly a challenge for me to teach children who have different backgrounds in terms of abilities and interests. Some are interested and active, while others tend to be passive or even look for excuses to avoid class
To overcome these challenges, I took a bold step (brave) namely implementing learning to use cellphones in class. By planning learning that integrates technology, using PPT and Classpoint, and develop realistic learning goals. I focus on interactions, with questions like “What do you breakfast?” which makes the class more relaxed. I incorporate HP-based assessments to increase student participation and expression
A result that was beyond my expectations. Learning becomes alive and vibrant. Students actively interact using cellphones, creating expressive images and recording sounds to answer questions. The class that was originally dry turned into a place where ideas and enthusiasm flowed freely. Time seemed to pass quickly. They even said, "Ma'am, tomorrow we will learn using a cell phone again, okay?" . I realized that happiness in learning is something we can create, and I'm happy to be able to provide a supportive environment for that.
This story underlines the importance of adapting to current developments. As Ali Bin Abi Tholib said, “Teach your children according to the times.” I understand that as a teacher, my job is to shape learning that is suitable for today's digital generation. By utilizing technology and creating an inclusive atmosphere, I have seen how learning English used to be intimidating, can be an alluring and joyful experience for my students
